I recently purchased a new 13" Macbook Pro and the first thing I noticed was how far off the display was to my NEC 2490. The color profile generator included with OS X doesn't cut it so I tried with my Huey and ArgyllCMS, an open source program that's very powerful. I normally use from Linux but it works fine under OS X. It's command-line so that might turn some off but the results are stellar.
The Huey software sucks but the hardware isn't bad with good software. I took the time to generate a high quality profile based on a swatch of 500. It's probably not perfect for everyone but it's real close in my environment to my NEC. Feel free to try it on your laptop LCD.
Cheers, UK
