I just came in from the garage after putting bar ends on my bicycle handlebars. It's a Fezzari mountain bike (Fezzari | Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Performance Bikes) that I have converted to more of a comfort/trail bike. I put a stem riser, heads up, gel seat, and now bar ends on it. My dirt days are over. From now on its graded trails, sidewalks, and an occasional street for me. That's a good thing. I was nearly 10 years younger when I first started riding in the dirt. Now, at 65, it's time to back off a little. Besides, my neighborhood has grown up over the last 10 years. When I moved here mine was the only house on the street. Now it's all built up around me, and there are plenty of great paths and sidewalks to ride on.
I have a small group of friends to ride with each week. We call ourselves the "Old Spokes." We have bright yellow T-Shirsts with a bent wheel logo on them.
I've got a nice bike carrier for the truck. I think I'll start taking my bike down to the Strip and ride the sidewalks in the off season. I'll take my camera and see what kind of candid people shots I can get. I just ordered one of those silly right angle phony lenses for snapping candid shots. Could be fun!
