Do you have to upgrade your membership to be able to choose from different skins or something? I'm not seeing anything like that under my profile options.

Responding to your invitation, do I detect a 'block' occurring from one of the ad servers?

For perhaps two weeks now I've noticed pages of M-F not loading because progress gets stuck at ad.doubleclick.net. This is not a continuous problem, but an irritating one. It appears to happen more at certain times of the day.

The solutions, if they can be called that, include going back one page and trying again, or going to a different thread, or halting the page load and trying a reload, even quitting the browser (Camino).

Because I wish to use and contribute to M-F without the clutter and distraction of ads, I have cookies, Flash animations and pop-up windows blocked. I suspect the delay caused by the ad server is related to the cookies block. Could that in fact be the case?

Why don't you turn on the Ad-Free skin? That should eliminate any potential problems with Ad servers. Might as well enjoy the primary perk of being a premium member.

Could be hughvane. Have the same issue when I'm at work, not logged in and have a couple of minutes. Rarely have the issue with the ad free skin.

Thank you cwa and bobtomay, I'm now trying the ad-free skin.

Continuing this theme of delayed page loads, I notice that, after changing the skin to ad-free, my login details had to be re-entered, I'd been 'forgotten' :'(.

But, the story doesn't get better. I still notice long delays in page display, while the progress text at the base of the Camino page shows a number of ad servers poking their noses in, the worst 'offender' being ad.doubleclick.net, where page load stops altogether. As stated earlier, halting the page load and trying a reload helps to overcome the situation. This should not be necessary.

A parallel problem is that connection from my computer is woefully slow at present - being dealt with by ISP techs - but it began after I'd noticed the delay caused by the M-F ad servers.

The two problems compounding make browsing rather difficult

I have issues at work with the ad servers. I'm on a large bandwidth controlled LAN there and even with the ad-free skin, something is still lacking. I occasionally see a lag late at night PST but I assume this is more site maintenance related and doesn't really impact me much.

And it's happening again as I type, but this is a different topic:

A new issue has arisen - maybe requires a new thread, will see what happens. I get the message (att) when moving to another link on M-F. This was noticed for the first time on either 14 or 15 Jan (when b'band was still working, so it's not related to that).

The problem is dealt with by Try Again, or going back a page and re-clicking the intended link. Annoying.

Have changes been made to M-F very recently, maybe causing this? Another ad server?

Am having the same issues here off and on. Started either yesterday or the day before but seems to be happening more frequently since late last night.

Make that 4 - for a couple of days now. Have only seen it in Opera in Windows at work and says the Server disconnected.

So it's not just me getting the connection resets. Been getting them quite a bit the last couple of days in Firefox (3.6 RC 1). Will give Opera a go (not that I expect there to be a difference).

May as well. I very much doubt that connection resets are browser specific.

It's done it on Safari, FF 3.5, FF 3.6. It has nothing to do with OSX, XP, or any brand of browser.

Maybe it works in ChromiumOS. Could you give it a try for us? :p
