LiON or not, never cycling a battery is not beneficial to the batteries over all life. See the aforementioned link to Apples statement for more information.It's not "bad".
The built-in charging circuitry will keep from over-charging the batteries.
The new Lithium based batteries are not like the old NiCads - they don't get memories.
But, they do fail - a lot. If you are always plugged in, you won't know you have a bad battery until you need it.
If you want, you could remove the battery completely and run off the AC adapter. Some people do that after their battery is so fried, it hogs all the power from the AC adapter and makes the laptop hot.
