All,
My G5 is dying, the video ram is going $650 from the Apple store or $900 for the motherboard. I ordered a new 17" quad core i7 but who knows when it will show.
Good news I have a couple of backups 1 super duper and 1 time machine.
here is my question when I get my new machine and I try to back it up with time machine wont it erase the 10.6 OS for the 10.58 I have on my backup?
I am having some pretty bad artifact problem but on this page i have none so i will limp along. I am just not sure i want to trust a firewire migration from a dying machine or one with corrupted files when i have 2 backups that will work.

I gave up on the matte screen and having serious cold feet on all the missing pixels, slow running and SL horror stories......
