I've got a Macbook Pro and it's running OS X 10.4.11

It has never been my primary computer until recently and I don't know what types of discs I can burn... I've only tried a music cd and that worked fine.

I just went into m system profiler and found this:

Firmware Revision: AP09
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: No

The -R DL and +R DL, mean I can burn dual layer DVDs correct?

I just want to make sure, before I go out and pick up those expensive things haha.

Correct, though it's something of a dark art, and many people have no luck trying.
DVD-R DL seems to be more reliable though.

Yes they will, no problem at all.
