• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

help!
having problems capturing from my sony pdx1o!

i was using it fine back in oz before i came out here, but i had to totally reset my camera in china and now i cant seem to get connected to fcp. i will go out and get a new firewire cable tomorrow to make sure its not that.

i have played around with fcp capturing settings, as well as camera settings, but cant seem to find the right combination.

i am capturing thru Firewire PAL and DV PAL 48kHz Anamorphic but just cant seem to get anything. any help much appreciated - i think its in the camera set up, but not sure - esp. the av - DV setting and USB Stream. anyone?

thanks! benj of mongolia

The first thing to do is check System Profiler to see if the camera is listed under the Hardware Firewire tab.

Try iMovie. If it captures, then this suggests something specific to FCP.
