Macbook Pro screen won't turn on

So I had my macbook pro hooked up to my TV and dimmed the screen all the way down, closed the laptop when I was done. I unplugged everything from the laptop this morning and opened it up, the screen is black and I am unable to get the screen to turn on or brighten. I've tried the f2 button, and holding function down while hitting f2. Everything else works, the keyboard lights, the sound etc. I even tried restarting the computer and plugging it back into my TV, but the TV won't show the laptop screen. Any suggestions?
