Hey guys,

Recently my mac pro 1.1 exhaust and cpu fan have been running really loud. I downloaded iStat, and iStat is reporting that cpu 1 is at 30c and cpu 2 is at 130c, hence why my fans are running full blast.

I know that cpu 2 is not at 130c, because the computer is running without any issues except for the loud fan. I downloaded a few fan control programs such as smc fan control, and any rpm setting I change is non-responsive.

The computer is clean inside, has no dirt and has proper airflow.

Any ideas why or how this is happening?

Thanks!

Probably a defective thermal sensor for CPU 2. It stands to reason if CPU 2 were really running at 130 C (hotter than boiling water) it would shut down the system or you would have a fried machine. If your Mac Pro is still under warranty, have it looked at by Apple.

Regards.
