Hi, A sudden occurrence the other day. My Mac Pro 2008 model suddenly slows down with all processes crawling. After long investigation, SMC reset, Disk utility on the OS Hard Drive, finally narrowed it down to the slow down happening when I connect anything into any of the Firewire ports. The initial thing that happened was the sound switched from coming out of the decklink card to only the internal speakers, and System Preferences/sound wouldn't open up for ages, and then when it did open, the message was, the selected .... has no output device. I badly need to be able to have the firewire drives connected, and the sound coming out of the decklink, without the slow-down. PLEASE HELP.

Are the drives mains powered? Could the device/s become corrupted by unplugging without dragging to trash first?
