Hey guys im new to the forum and i was just wondering if it was possible to upgrade my IMAC 24" with PC6400 DDR2 ram to PC8500 DDR3. My guess is that not possible but Im not 100% sure. I was just curious because the latest 24" has DDR3 RAM and it made me wonder if my system board would support it.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

In a word no.

Have a look at this which explains the two are not interchangeable and DDR3 is not backwards compatible with DDR2. For the best result just max out the memory of your iMac.
