Hi,

I have a 250 GB Seagate FreeAgent external USB HDD. When I connect it to my Linux computer it opens up fine. I can add/remove files.

Disk Utility does show the presence of the HDD, however I cannot mount it, I cannot even run a First Aid on it, I can't even "Eject" it....

Disk utility gives the following information:
Name : Seagate FreeAgentDesktop Media
Type : Disk

Partition Map Scheme : Master Boot Record
Disk Identifier : disk6
Media Name : Seagate FreeAgentDesktop Media
Media Type : Generic
Connection Bus : USB
USB Serial Number : 6RY05S3H
Device Tree : /PCI0/EHC1@1D,7/@5:0
Writable : Yes
Ejectable : Yes
Mac OS 9 Drivers Installed : No
Location : External
Total Capacity : 232.9 GB (250,059,350,016 Bytes)
S.M.A.R.T. Status : Not Supported
Disk Number : 6
Partition Number : 0

Any idea how to proceed?

Had a similar deal when my partner turned off computer mid SuperDuper back up. To get it to mount i removed the cover off the HD and unplugged the multi pin cable but left internal power connector seated. Then power up unit until you hear it stabilise RPM and make a quiet click then shut down, replace multi pin plug and reassemble. Showed up and mounted after that.
