I'd like to split an ntfs partition without losing the data on it. I don't really have an easy way of backing up the data on the drive otherwise I'd just do that as a safeguard. both of the partitions that I intend to create would individually be large enough that the data on it could easily be preserved on either with space leftover.
from what I gather, this wouldn't be a problem at all with an HFS+ partition but I'm nervous about the lack of compatibility for an ntfs partition.
I'm using snow leopard and presume to be using disk utility to do the job.
