MBP and LCD projector connection

Hey guys -- I was looking to buy a 13" MBP this weekend, when I stumbled upon a thread in which a poster was "discussing" the difficulty in connecting a MBP to an LCD projector, due to it not utilizing the "industry standard." My main reason for getting the MBP is for presenting seminars. Is this something that I should be concerned about, or is it as simple as making sure I purchase the proper adaptor?
