Lost ability to add new contacts in Address Book

does any one have a solution? i am running 10.4.11. I recently got an iPhone 3GS and when i add contacts to my iPhone and then sync, the new addresses do not show up in the Address Book. When i sync again, the new addresses disappear on the iPhone. any help is greatly appreciated.

i did a Google search and came up with this:
the first line worked for me, but when i tried to perform the 2nd line it would not work. I can edit contacts and add them now.
