Fans always on

Hi all,

Just after getting fed up with my mac book pro because it was over heating at 70C and takes almost buns my lap off.

Have tried:
smcfan
Fan Control
CoolBookController

All where showing that fans where at 4000rpm and 60-70C cup and gpu.

So opened up mac and cleaned up cpu, gpu and put some thermal paste on it closed back up and put everything together.

Now temperature is running at 30-45C

BUT fans are running at 6000rpm and both are running, any ideas what can do or what component might have damaged or not plugged back in properly? Also something to note that i had just upgraded to Snow Leopard 1 week ago.

Also when i did Apple Hardware Test (AHT) comes back with 4SNS/1/40000000: TG0H-128.000, but can not get much from that. Same story in safe mode, deleted all bits of software could do.

Seems that we are on the same boat!

How long as yours been like this, been checking up on MacBook Pro 15" 2.2ghz - Fans always on - iFixit to see see if can get replacement parts.

Also found this not sure if its related since I just upgraded to Lepord List week buts its only after opened machine that fans where constant, before they where just on and off as temperature went up and down.

It may have nothing to do with dysfunctional parts. Are the fans clogged with dust by any chance?

What kinds of surfaces are you using your MBP on? Avoid soft surfaces like your lap or a bed and stick to hard flat surfaces like a desk. Soft surface restrict air flow which increases temperature and thus, it increases fan speed.

It may also have something to do with what you're doing with the laptop.

If you are gaming quite a bit...or watching lots of internet videos or You-tube...this will make your laptop run much hotter than if you were just doing e-mail, or "regular" internet surfing.

No dust in machines. Have it on glass table and as said the machine is not running hot at all its at present 33C.

Not doing anything except on internet and its even running a lot even without having anything open.

Sometimes it's the simple things that are overlooked. Glad you got it working.
