You're going to get tons of opinions...and thus you may end up being more confused by the end of this thread than you started.;)

In addition to the two choices you mentioned...I have an HP w2408 24" monitor...here's a review:

HP w2408 Review and User Opinions - Hewlett-Packard - Monitors Reviews by Digital Trends 2009 10/12

It has many cool features...I especially like that the monitor has the ability to rotate the screen 90 degrees...for the occasional task where a "Portrait" rather than "Landscape" orientation is needed or handy.

Hope this helps,

- Nick

Thanx for the input but that is way out of my price range. I can get 2 of the other hp's for the price of one of the monitors that you mentioned.

I got mine as a refurbished model for $200 bucks...and there are LOTS of what are called "debranded" versions that are EXACTLY the same monitor with the "HP" info & labels removed. These are under $200.

Example:

Debranded Refurbished HP w2408h: 24″ LCD Monitor for $199.99 at Buy.com — DisplayBlog

Here's someone who's still selling them...I'm sure there are more:

Refurbished HP W2408 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Michael, I gather your going to be using the Mac Pro for Design/Photography work?

If so, I'd avoid the ones you're looking at along with the w2408h Nick suggests. Those are TN panels and aren't very good for color reproduction - I sampled one at work and it was awful.

You'd be better getting one decent monitor than two poor ones for your work...

Just my 2c tho. :)

I totally agree with you that TN panel monitors are not the best...but for general computing they are fine. Also...I believe there is a budget limit in this particular case...so a "non-TN panel" monitor will most likely be more expensive.

Totally agree about the budget and that the monitors are fine for 'general usage' however, if he is using this for design/photography I'd highly suggest buying a good monitor.

Better spending more once rather than paying twice later IMO... Like I said tho, I'm only guessing he's using it for work - if not any of the three would be fine!

In that case I'd seriously consider getting a S-IPS/H-IPS panel or go to a store and look at a TN panel for yourself.

I certainly agree that getting an accurate monitor is best when doing photography/graphic design work...there just sounded like there was a budget concern.

Maybe screen "real estate" is more important at the moment.
