Hi there,

I'm trying to install Snow Leopard but on the installation screen i get a message that says:

"You cannot install Snow Leopard on this version of Mac OS X."

I'm on a first generation MacBook, OS X version 10.5.8, and i'm pretty sure i tick all the boxes required. I tried to do a software update, but it says i'm all good.

Apologies for the relative lack of tech savvyness, but can anyone help?

Am guessing the Snow Leopard disc came with another Mac?

Yes it did.... A friend has a Macbook pro and got 2 copies.

I didnt think it would make a difference, but you're suggesting it does?

Yep, those are machine specific disks, so they won't work on a different model.
