Hello everyone,
I just replaced the "non user" replaceable dimm in my iMac,
it was very easy and I recommend it to any one else who
surfs the web on these sleek machines.
So, now I have 2 GB of DDR PC 2700 Ram in a machine that
officially supports only 1 GB. The iMac is working properly as it did before.
Upon restart the machine seems faster.
With the previous 1.25 GB of Ram I scored a 732 on geekbench,
and after installing the new ram and restarting the machine and
running geek bench multiple times, I am still getting the same
score of 732.
The System Profile is registering the new 1 GB and I put everything back correctly. I wonder if my perceived performance boost is artificial.
On their website, geekbench shows a similar machine that ran
the test with the same 1.25ghz processor I have and 2 GB of ram,
and it scored over 1000.
Does anyone have any thoughts or similar obsession with the iMac G4? What a great computer!
