The Mac Mini doesn't have the expansion slots of the towers, just some sort of all purpose audio input jack. I was wondering if anybody knew how to record with one. I'm interested in tracking guitars and vocals for songwriting, I already have a small home studio worth of gear: mic pres, mixer, 4 track tape recorder, reamp, DI boxes, amp modelers, etc.

Would I be better off getting a USB mic like the Blue Snowball? Are there any USB or Firewire interfaces that one can run a mixer's output into, then into the Mac Mini?

Your best off buying an interface and then routing the output to a mixer. You'll get a better quality recording.
