OS X INSTALL Problems

i have a macbook (black) reformatted the drive, trying to install os x leopard, cant install, i trying to put tiger on it with install dvd, the macbook wont read it, and the screen stays white, with a folder with ? on it, is my dvd not good

What model MacBook do you have? If you don't know...at least post the CPU speed.
