My issue is simple: I want to remove iTunes as the default player for all movie files. Don`t see an option for it anywhere!

I`ve gone through right click > open with... > other... > checked "always open with" after selecting VLC, but doing this is only setting the preference on a file-by-file basis.

Anyone know a general solution?

I don`t know if I`m being dumb, but all media players used to provide these options, didn`t they?

right click - Get Info - Open With section - change to the app you want - if that file is already set to the app you want, change it to something else, then change it back - then click on 'Change All'
