I am upgrading the RAM in my MBP from the standard 2GB to 4GB... What are my options? Do I have to purchase the stuff from Apple? What product would you recommend? Thanks!

No you don't have to purchase your stuff from apple. You can either purchase from newegg (they have great prices) or OWC (they also have great prices) and Crucial as well. You can go to crucial and it will tell you what you need as far as what ram to put in.

Whatever you purchase just make sure that your new memory is compatible with your Mac. Don't make any hasty decisions without confirming that it will in fact work.

Newegg.com is the place where I buy most of my electronic hardware. Pretty much anything from this list will do.
