I recently bought a MacBook Pro to replace a badly performing old Dell Laptop. I have a HP OfficeJet 7310xi printer connected to a Dell desktop running XP SP2. We are hardwired with Cat 5e ethernet and are running a standard LAN with the MacBook and DELL sharing the printer. The appropriate drivers have been installed on the MacBook.
When trying to print a document created on the MacBook using Word for Mac 2008 the print comes out looking like gibberish. It looks like this version of Word is defaulting to saving and printing ".pdf" files.
Is this pdf format the issue? How can I make the Mac Word program work in the ".doc" format that worked with the old laptop? Is there something else I'm missing?
