I'm looking to buy a Macbook Pro, and just like any other consumer in these rough economic times, I'm trying to get the best deal possible. I was browsing the refurbished macbook pro section when I found a link to the federal employee discount program.

When I first decided to get a mac, I went directly to the Postal Service site that listed all the stuff we get discounts for, and the only computers they listed were from Dell. I also know that a lot of times the government doesn't want to consider the post office a part of them.

So, I was was just wondering if I would be able to qualify for this discount. Probably an obvious answer, but I just want to make sure, so that I don't end up paying some kind of penalty for falsification.

Also, a little off subject, but how much of a difference does the increase from 250 gig HD to 320 make? I really want this ASAP, and I've got a 500 gig external HD. Would it be worth the extra time and money for the upgrade. Just to make things clear as can be, I'm pretty much dying to get this macbook pro. Some of my friends have macs( 1 a mac mini and another a macbook pro) and I just fell in love with it :D :D

Your best bet is to contact apple themselves, I would guess you do count as a federal employee

You are probably best getting the lower hard drive, seeing if it is big enough and upgrading it later yourself, unless the prospect of changing hard drives fills you with dread

Financing question

Hi, I'm interested in buying the 1499 mbp. I was looking into the 12 month apple financing program available. I just have 1 question.

First, I know it says there's no interest as long as the item is paid off within the 12 months. But I just wanted to ask someone on the forums to be sure. Is the 12 month finanancing no interest?

This is the only thing that's stopping me from wanting to get the mbp at best buy with their 18 month no interest financing. I'd rather get the laptop straight from apple. Plus, I can get it for 100 bucks off since I work for the gov't (Post Office). Also, I've heard so many horror stories from people that bought apple computers from best buy.

You can buy a mac with 18 months no interest from best buy and can get a 3 year service plan that covers accidental aka spills, if you drop the laptop, power surges, heat, dust, and humidity. and power surges... More than apple care. I believe it is a no brainer to get from best buy. Better financing and better comp coverage...
