I have an early 2006 Intel iMac, according to istat, the Hardrive fan isn't running, and the hard drive is reaching temps of around 65C. I ran the hardware test and came back with the following error
4mot/2/40000004 :0x7bae9210
Does anybody know what this means? is it simply a failed fan, or something more sinister such as the logic board? The iMac runs fine otherwise, and the warm hard drive doesn't seem to effect its performance yet.
If it is a failed fan, how important is it to keep the hardrive below 65C, I am tempted not to fix it until the hardrive fails, as most of the cost in getting it fixed is the labour of pulling the iMac apart, might as well pull it apart once and replace both when needed. Thoughts?
