i must push the open/close button to close the mac

Hello All.
My Mac is Mac OS X Vr. 10.5.8 /2.4 Ghz/ 4 Memo
2 times my Mac stuck and i must push the open/close button to close the mac.
both of 2 times my mac stuck at the Software update ...
i click the software update and i waiting to appear the install items.
when the items appear after 5 minutes click the 'install items' and i waiting....and waiting....but nothing ..stuck.
So i push the open/close button.
If you Know anything about this tell me.

Firstly you haven't told us anything about what model Macintosh you have...but from your description it sounds like you at least are talking about a laptop.

Regarding your problems...I'm actually pretty confused what your talking about.:Confused:

The open/close button does nothing but secure the laptop display from opening when you're not using it...it doesn't have anything to do with the software update issue you seem to be describing.

I hope this makes sense,:)

I Have Mac Book Aluminium 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memo 4Gb DDR3
It's Laptop. As i said before i had problem with my laptop.
when i gone to install items (programs) to the software uptade ... (that happended 2 times) I click INstall Items and it didn't do anything just hold me on the loading mode (something like this) and didn't continue the installation...
and i push the open/close button for 3 seconds to close the laptop and i open it again and its good. But why this happended?
(Sorry for my English :Oops: )

When you open it again then the installation is complete?
If so, it has nothing to do with opening and closing the laptop, it's just the fact that more time has elapsed.

Yes The Instalattion Completed. But The Same Thing Happens to Me again Today.. :\

The Problem is that the macbook stuck. and i must close it with the {Open Button}
This is not right.

I think he's talking about the power button. ;)

Try this. Open up /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app and type the following:

sudo softwareupdate -i -a
Press enter, typer in your password and press enter. This should install all the updates for your machine.
