I just picked up a brand new mac mini 2.0ghz/120gb. Installed a fresh retail version of snow leopard. Upgraded the ram and hard drive 4gb/500gb respectively. Have issues with iPhoto crashing, finder crashes, weird black boxes around the names of folders in finder that wont go away. Safari is REAL buggy and crashes frequently. Have run disc utility and verify/repaired but nothing seems to work. Time for a reinstall? Are others having these issues?

What happens if you revert back to the stock memory?

This would be the first place I would look as well. I would also recommend running the hardware test that comes as part of your install disks. Run it with the new memory as well as with the old memory.

Although I agree, I think the AHT is very weak at catching hardware issues. I've seen a number of circumstances where it missed very obvious problems with hard disks as well as memory. If you want to do a software-based diagnostic, I would highly recommend TechTool Pro.

I just ran the hardware test and everything checks out.The issues seem software related to me.

In About Mac, does it fully show 4GB and is it 667 Mhz? I would definitely revert back to the original memory and confirm that you aren't seeing memory issues..

My snow leopard gives me the blue screen of death every few days, the mac becomes noisier and actually more laggish. I wish I didn't install it

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)

That was a random useless comment that was of no help to anyone, yet alone yourself!.....
Just as it is for majority of users, my SL is running just fine, minus a couple of hick ups along the way due to the transition, that a little bit of troubleshooting and help from others in Mac Forums resolved.
If you need help, try putting your typing to good use, and ask for it! :)

It shows up as 1067 mhz in about this mac. I will try and report back when I have the time to revert to the original ram.

Did you run the upgrade from Leopard or did you re-format the HDD and install SL fresh?

I've never liked 'upgrading' OSes on top of old version. I feel a fresh install and starting again with reloading apps is the cleanest way to go...

Definitely try the original RAM before wiping it and starting again tho!

and to get rid of the black boxes you need to turn off Voice Over
