Finder list view defualt state

I'm having one of those, can't-think-of-the-right-keywords-to-find-the-answer days so I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I have shortcuts to folders that they're default state, in list view, is to have some folders already expanded. It drives me nuts, as each time I click on a shortcut I have to scroll up close the folder that it's expanded and scrolled me down to before I can navigate where I wanted to go.

I've deleted the shortcut, collapsed all the folders, scrolled to the top, and re-created the shortcut... but it still does it.

I'm sure it's something simple, and any help will be greatly appreciated!
