• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I lost about 2 hours worth of work in imovie 09. Last night everything was there. I logged on this morning and only the first two shots and one transition are there. Doesn't it save automatically as you work? I don't see a save function. Any way to recover it? I don't use Time Machine.

Yes, it saves as you work. I'm not sure of the frequency or timing of those saves. Your problem does sound odd.

It sounds like this has only affected your project. Did you by chance duplicate the project and are looking at the wrong one? Do you remember if iMovie closed cleanly with no errors or warning messages? Were you using an additional drive that wasn't mounted in the morning?

Your projects are in your "Movies/iMovie Projects" folder, unless you are using another drive where they are then on the root level of that drive under just "iMovie Projects".

If it is truly lost, I can't see a way of getting it back.
