mp3's on dvd

Hi All,

I,m new to Mac's in fact one week into it and have come up with a problem..... Is it possible to view/play mp3's that have been burnt to DVD using windose I can see the folders but when I click on them they show up as being empty i'm hoping that it is possible as I have a very large collection of DVD's containing mp3's.

I'm using a PowerBook G4.

you can burn mp3 dvds in itunes or toast, just insert after burning, and you can either open it in itunes, or play them in the finder in column view.
NOTE: these mp3 dvds can't be played on regular cd players, they have to be played on your mac or in dvd player that supports mp3 playback.

I have allready burnt the dvd's with nero on a pc but cannot get my mac to open and play the files I was wondering if I needed a third party app to get them running?

The answer to your question about playing mp3's written on the pc on the Mac is YES, you can read and play them on the Mac. If they can be played on the pc then they will work on the Mac. Unless of course your burner is not very compatable with other drives.

Simply put the dvd in the Mac dvd drive and when the icon for the disk comes up just pick out the file you want and double click on it, it should come up in Itunes with no problem.

The fact that you can see the folders but no the files makes me wonder if perhaps you got a bad burn maybe...do they work on the pc?

You can also put the pc dvd in your drive, open iTunes and tell in under the file menu to "add to library" and it will put the whole dvd into iTunes for you and all you will need to do is click on any file, that is as long as the disk is in the drive.

Thanks James they work on a pc and a standalone dvd player but not in my mac oh well never mind I'll find a way of transfering them.

i think i know the problem,

Ive found when burning to a CDR above 4x, the mac rejects it. Lower than 4x is IFFY. CDRW for some reason works every time.

I have a question though, while wer on topic, how can i burn a raw data CD that my PC AND MP3 player can read?
