Help!
I Play a game called RuneScape (runescape.com). During the time that I had 10.5, Runescape ran just fine, with the occasional bump or mess-up due the Runescape being built or and for Windows (mainly). However, when I upgraded to 10.6, I found that Java (runescape's platform) seemed less willing to run. I did some research, and found that my MacBook is one of the non-NVidia-types. However, having NVidia is not a requirement for Runescape (the version I play, at least).

This is upsetting me a great deal, as I use RuneScape to communicate with friends from my old schools who now live abroad.

If you have had similar issues and know a solution please help!
Thanks in advance, Manymanymacs.

When you say 'less willing to run' what exactly do you mean? What sort of errors are you experiencing?

Also, what browser are you using to run the game? While Java is largely platform independent, browser behavior/support can make a difference. I did a quick test and with Safari, the game was not able to successfully load and I was presented with only a white screen. With Firefox 3.0.14 the game seemed to load up fine and I was able to switch between the SD/HD versions of the game without issue. I am running an MBP 17 inch with the ATI Radeon 1600.

Also, check your JavaPrefences. The console for setting/managing your Java environment can be found in /Applications/Utilities/JavaPreferences. You may need to switch from JSE 1.6 64 bit to 32 bit.

Also, if you haven't do so, I would check the Runescape support forums/FAQ to see if there are any issues particular to OSX and more specifically OSX 10.6 with certain Java/browser combinations.

If it does have something to do with 32-bit/64-bit, note that in Snow Leopard, Safari by default is executed as a 64-bit application.

Thanks to both of you. I switched my Default to 32-bit JSE 6 and modified it to accommodate more RAM. However, I still find that if I'm not running the game with the lowest possible configurations, I still have troubles. I'm pretty sure my card is an ATI Radeon 1400 or lower (it's a 1st generation MacBook with 144 VRAM). According to the game's specifications, my graphics card is substandard for HD, but It should run SD fine.
My internet's quite fast, at 130MBits/sec, so now I'm really confused.

The errors are HD crashes, SD very slow, and the occasional full out crash of safari and JSE.
