Why did my network security encryption change from WPA to WEP?

After not using my iMac Power PC G4 for several months (I use a newer MacBook now) I turned it on to access the internet. It had been previously configured to a WPA encryption but now was asking for a WEP password. I also got a message "your network setting has been changed by another application." I know the present location of my iMac is in range.

What happened to my network security, and how can I go back to my network with WPA encryption?

No idea why it changed, but you'll need to access your router via ethernet to change it back.
