Hey all,

I recently purchased a 4gb kit (2x2gb) from Crucial.com and I'm having some issues installing the memory modules.

When I install the two 2gb modules, the computer will not boot. It actually turns on (can hear the fan and superdrive) but it stays on a black screen.
To ensure it was not a memory issue I did some extra tests by inserting each of the 2gb modules along side one of the original modules (1gb) and swapping them between the slots. In this case the computer works fine and can recognise 3gb (1x2gb and 1x1gb).
Also, it does not work if I only put only one of the 2gb modules.

I sent an email to Crucial.com and they suggested that apparently my motherboard is likely to be the cause as it would only recognise up to 3gb.
According to Crucial I should make sure that I have the latest firmware and if yes to contact Apple.
I think I have the latest firmware, from the System profiler:
- Boot ROM Version: MB41.00C1.B00
- SMC Version: 1.31f0

What do you think?

Thanks.
