Picture cropping and iPhoto

I liked a picture of myself with my family of my recent birthday in iPhoto. An event has been made in iPhoto. I wanted to crop myself in that picture to use as a display pic but I also wanted to keep the original picture as well. How do we do that?

iphoto is non-destructive. Make the crop, export the to your Pictures directory then revert.

...or duplicate the photo and crop that. That way you have both photos kept.
