I have a MacBook, and a TV with composite RWY inputs. Exactly what cables would I need to plug the MacBook to the TV and watch videos? I tried searching but nothing I came across seemed to be what I needed, so I finally made an account for the site!

Thank You.

Which MacBook model do you have? We need to know in order to recommend the correct video output adapter cable.

Does your TV have a VGA input? DVI input? HDMI input? Audio inputs?

Basically you will need a video cable adapter from your MacBook video output to a video cable that inputs to the TV. Then, you will also need a cable which goes from the headphone output on your MacBook to the audio input of the TV.

Regards.

It depends. What model macbook pro is it? Does it have the mini display port like my new 09 MBP 13" has. If so you need a different adapter. You would need this one.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

Then you would buy this
Dynex® - 6' DVI-to-HDMI Digital Video Cable - DX-AV011

then that would plug your MBP into your TV's HDMI input. Then still after that you have to plug in the stereo to RCA adapter to be able to get sound to either the back of your TV or your home entertainment system.

Now if you want to go the easiest route, you can always just go from mini displayport to VGA.
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

then you get a vga cable and plug it into your TV.

I gave you either option as I do not know what inputs are on the back of your TV. But either or will work.

On September 30, a new cable will be introduced by Monoprice. The cable is a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI with audio! Search Product ID 5969. It's only $37, a lot cheaper than any setup available on apple's website... and you will need only one cable instead of three!
