i think i messed up photoshop

Ok, until today photoshop has been working fine. I think the problem i have it related to the settings (and i have tried deleting the .plist) The problem is i can't do alot of the filter effects. I don't know how to get it back to normal, and i have fiddled with teh settings for a new psd, but cant get it. Here are 2 picutres.

1. Is how the document is set up.

EDIT: Even if i add things do the document, like layers and colours, and add brushes and color all over it, it is still like what i mentioned above.

In the first picture in the settings, you'll need to change 16 bit to 8 bit. That should fix your problem.

He's right. Very few filters work with 16 bit files, but they're working on it.

I had the same problem, when I first started using Photoshop. I wondered, how I got the filters to work fine on one computer and not the other. It took me awhile to figure it out.
