icons stuck in place on desktop

All of a sudden I've found the icons on my desktop stuck in place. I can open each document, but I can't click and drag it around. Please advise. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum. Sounds like a time for an upgrade to Tiger. Never used Jaguar so I'm no help.
