I noticed this issue after 10.6 upgrade. Going through the auto-IMAP settings with my gmail account, Mail then creates my IMAP folders (which it didn't do in 10.5.8) and my mail count in the dock includes my IMAP folder as well as my inbox and other folders--showing double the amount of unread mail I actually have and not updating the IMAP folder once it is taken off the server.
I tried POP for gmail in Mac Mail, but noticed that the Spam Mail was bypassing my gmail spam folder and cluttering my Mac Mail inbox...
It seems in 10.5.8 the settings and layout were ideal... all new mail came only to the Inbox at the top of the field unless there were rules to move to another folder.
Also, now when I "create rule" the selection defaults to "any recipient" and not "from" as it seemed to do in 10.5.8.
Can anyone offer settings assistance?
I have tried IMAP and POP and automatic and manual configuration.
If I can get POP and NOT receive Spam, that would be ideal.
