Via ars technica - Apple has just announced a special media event taking place on September 9 titled 'It's only rock and roll, but we like it.'

Something along the line of new iPod's, iPhone's etc maybe?

Well, it is 'new iPod' month, after all. No big surprise there.

I would really like to see a refresh on the iMacs, since I really want to buy one soon.

Not much they can do with the iMacs except video.

Don't think they can keep the i7's cool enough in an all-in-one.

Most likely there will be new iPods, possibly with cameras built in. As far as the rumored Beatles announcement, that's the same day that they are rereleasing remasters of the Beatles' catalog on CD. It seems to me that the record labels wouldn't want digital sales to cannibalize their CD sales.

I can see it now, new applecare claims because the iPod nano phone was broken in half when they used their shoulder to hold it in place.

Well considering I just saw on the news a Beatles Rock Band video game. I think it's really possible to say the Beatles collection might just be coming to the itunes store. Mind you I think it will be their collection + some new ipods coming.

We'll get a Beatles iPod, like the U2 one, and it will automatically make all the drumming suck on every song.

I'm thinking that the iPods will garner (at least) an FM tuner, possibly side-by-side RS/Beatles themed/skinned iPod Nanos, and maybe even an Apple TV with DVR functionality... (the one I've REALLY been waiting for.. *drooooool*)...

So far itunes 9. Lots of new features.
Lots of new games in the Touch/iphone app store
ipod touch 8GB $199
ipod touch 16 GB $299
ipod touch 64 GB $399
ipod classic the same thing but 160GB for $249
ipod shuffle - 5 flavours + steel versions for $59 and $79
ipod nano now with speaker, microphone and camera and built in FM radio
- larger 2.2 inch display, pedometer,
- 8GB $149 and 16 GB $179

And that's about it. (All prices are US$)

"Really pleased that you came" - Jobs

And now singing is Norah Jones.

*****************

Well that's what I understood from the live feed of the event.

*****************

Info on ipod nano camera:

H.264 VGA video, 640 by 480 pixels, up to 30 frames per second with AAC audio
15 real-time special effects: Sepia, Black and White, X-Ray, Film Grain, Thermal, Security Cam, Cyborg, Bulge, Kaleido, Motion Blur, Mirror, Light Tunnel, Dent, Stretch, and Twirl.

I wonder if it'll be a better still shot camera than the usual mobile phone camera? As the apple store says a lot about it as a video camera and nothing about it as a still shot camera.

*****************

Australian prices:

Ipod shiffle: $79/$109 and the stainless applestore only 4GB is $139
Ipod nano: $199/$249
Ipod touch: $268/$399/$549
Ipod classic: $329 (160GB, 80GB one seems to be discontinued)
