• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Late 2013 rMBP, i7, 750m gpu, OSX versions 10.9.3, 10.10
take a look at:

Elgato - North America

you'll want to check through their compatible hardware and find something that will support HD video, and if you require the cable box to decode channels (you may need a cable box for any HD channels, honestly, I don't know - I have satellite) the hardware that accepts the video signal will require some sort of IR blaster to control the cable box.

iBook G3 - You'll be missed.
I posted this on my forum, but it relates to this post.
------
There are quite a few for the Mac.
EyeTV - Elgato - North America
Pinnacle - Pinnacle Systems- Pinnacle for Mac|Discover video & TV solutions
ATI - ATI TV Wonder™ HD 650 Combo USB for Mac - Overview
Happauge - Hauppauge Computer Works : Mac products
Equinux - equinux - Small TV receivers for digital TV on Mac and PC

The Happauge and I believe the Equinux are pretty cheap. Most of them do the same thing, they seem to work about the same. . Most of them use the same EyeTV software. You can get the HD signal right in from your antenna or cable box for any of these USB sticks.

You might check out this fella's videos.

Might help to search youtube for those models I listed above. There are ton's of reviews.

I hope that helps!

I think the OP wants to view the HD content from his TWC box. The problem is that many of the channels will be encrypted and the solutions mention above do not get around that. The tuners that are HD cable capable, only handle non-encrypted content.
