Hye guys,
i installed 10.6 last week and never had a temperature problem. its a new 17 with 2.8Ghz. I changed my bettery performance from better bettery life to improved performance mode, maybe that had something to do with it?
i also a 500gig external plugged in FW800, ipod and audio out are taken up too.
any input would appreciated

Hot is relative. How about reporting some temperatures? Download and install iStat Pro menus. Link Be sure to download the version that was just released for Snow Leopard.

Changing the power saver function for your battery should not effect the temps, however, running a lot of streaming music and video will cause the temps to rise. But that's normal.

Be sure to use your machine on a flat surface that allows air to flow under it. Do not use it on your lap nor the bed or a carpet, etc. I recommend a notebook stand for your 17" MBP. A stand not only helps cooling but it also gives some protection against nasty spills.

Regards.
