MacBook Pro 17" Fall 2009 MacBookPro5,2 Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM
I am soon going to purchase a Mac Book Pro. Can any suggest a reference book(s)? OS books? Tips and Tricks? Where to find good to have apps, programs, widgets, odds and ends of software that make using a Mac Book Pro better, easier, faster?

One book that I would recommend is [url="http://www.amazon.com/Mac-OS-Snow-Leopard-Missing/dp/0596153287/“]Mac OS X Snow Leopard: The Missing Manual[/url]. It doesn’t look like it’s released yet, but I have the Leopard version, and it shows how to do just about all the basics that you’ll need as well as some handy tips and tricks. I’d recommend it, especially if you are new to the Mac platform (or computers in general).

I'll second that one. It captures just about everything you'll need to know.
