Downloading video taken with iPod nano to the Mac

The video camera is not a real "killer feature" of the new iPod Nano. But since my 1st Gen Nano needs to be replaced anyhow (2GB is far to little) it is a nice to have.

Here comes my question: How do you download the videos taken with the iPod to your Mac? Only using some iTunes sync?

Call me "old-fashioned" but I like my gadgets to use a "mass storage option". Plug it in and should appear as a drive on the computer. I do not want to use {iTunes|iPhoto|iMovie}.

If somebody already owns an actual generation iPod Nano, please share your experience.

* Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
* Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later
* iTunes 9 or later7
* iPhoto 6.0.6 or later recommended for use with Mac OS X Tiger8
* iPhoto ’09 recommended for use with Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard8
