Outlook Express for OSX ver 10.5.8

Hi,

A friend of mine needs outlook express for his MacBook running the above operating system. He's tried to download it but it seems that it's not compatible with this version of OSX.

Anyone any ideas if Outlook Express is available for this version

Are you sure it's Outlook Express your friend needs and not Outlook? Outlook Express is the name of a now-defunct Windows-only email client that was bundled with Windows 95-Windows XP. It was superseded by Windows Mail in Vista and is no longer under development. As far as email clients go, it was pretty bare-bones. Even the most basic email clients available for Mac should be able to duplicate the functionality of Outlook Express.

The last Mac version of OE was for Mac OS 9. No version of OE has ever worked on OS X, except in Classic mode, which doesn't exist under 10.5.8.

As cwa107 noted, OE is now obsolete on Windows as well.

Eudora for OS X will import old OE mailboxes, which can then be imported into Mail or other clients.
