Everytime I turn my computer off/on or take my battery out my FCC changes. It was at 3102 then at 3298 after I put the battery back in. Is this normal?

My batter has 490 cycles and is running at 61-70 percent depending on the day. Also, the light on my powercord comes on sometimes but doesn't at others. As I was writing this my cord was plug in fully and said battery not charging. Any thoughts?

Are these signs that my battery could be defective or what is going on?

Thanks,
-Nick

With a battery thats been through as many cycles as yours has, its not uncommon to encounter a few glitches now and then.

490 cycles is way past the normal amount.

And you still can't complain, with 60-70%, but it wouldn't hurt to start setting some dollars aside for a replacement.

Regards...:)

And if you're thinking about trying to get a new battery because it's defective after 490 cycles and still 60-70% of original capacity????

Not if I'm the one behind the counter when you walk in.

What OS version are you running? If your running 10.5 under the more info you can find out the health information from the battery. You should run the notebook adapter diagnostic

I am running Snow Leopard. What is considered a cycle? I know I haven't let this thing die 490 times. My battery should be like a year and a half old.
