Just bought another G5 and my existing G5 is set up perfectly that I just want to clone the Hard Disk and copy it onto the new G5.

Tried to copy to an external HD but there were a few 'permissions' issues.

Is it worth trying the Firewire HD connection (restart new mac holding down 'T'), connecting both Macs with Firewire and doing a disk copy?

Will that work or is there a better way? Help.

And SuperDuper is well worth the $29.00 registration fee. You can do weekly backups on an external drive in less than fifteen minutes and the registered version using Smart Backup flies.

SuperDuper did not manage it. After 2.5 hours and 184Gb of 213Gb it stopped? Will have to try Firewire thing?

It ran into a bad sector. Check your drive for errors before you try again.

Assumed you knew (sorry for not explaining) it would have to be Firewire to be a bootable HDD. PowerPC (G3, G4 and G5) will not boot from USB, even USB2 as it is too slow. Using SD unregistered will take a couple of hours and then 16 minutes following registration.
