Webpages on this site take about a minute to load tonight over two computers - a pc and a mac. Not sure what's going on. Some kind of server issue?

I was having the same issue and was blaming Safari but tried Firefox and same thing. Then I realized it was timing out just before the last item was loading which are the ads. I turned on Ad Blocker temporarily and bang, it was fast as can be.

So it's something to do with the ads. I am sure it will get resolved.

I'm using ad blocker plus for FF on my PC with no effect on this website though. Pages still load slowly. But, I do think your right that it has to do with the ads loading.

Yeah; super slow here as well. Taking over a minute to load anything - my Firefox status bar shows as "Waiting for Interactive.com" I think.

Initially I thought it was my rubbish ISP but flickr and facebook are loading fine.

We are going to keep an eye on this and contact iNET, if we continue get long loading times. Please let us know, if you notice anymore loading issues throughout the day.

Also let us know, if you are using the ad-less skin built into the site through the paid membership, an ad blocker, or using the site without an ad blocker.

Forum Slowdown

Yesterday (Sep 7) at around 3:00 PM CDST this entire forum just about came to a standstill. It lasted until I shut down this morning around 1:00 AM CDST.

It was strange because it almost appeared to be a DNS problem in that the name could not be resolved from the forum IP address of 69.20.37.125? No other web sites were affected and it was not a Mac or Snow Leopard thing. I ran tests using Leopard, SL, and Windows XP. Same result.

What was even more strange is that I could PING the IP address and receive an almost instant response from the server. ??

Anyone know what was going on around those times? Was it just from my end or was anyone else having problems? I'd like to know in case it happens again so I can try another route. Thanks.

Regards.

chscag, I merged your thread with this main one as we are trying to keep the clutter down.

On my end it seemed to be the ads. That is what I saw anyway and when I turned on Ad Blocker in Safari it went back to normal speed. It seems to be fine now. Let us know if it gets worse again.

Thanks for the merge. Anyway, I guess I was not the only one having difficulty yesterday. Everything seems like it's back to normal today. Like I said though - very strange because I could PING the server and get an instant response. Usually when a server is acting up, a PING will hang or time out during the response.

Gremlins? O:)

Regards.

Seems to be working fine now on my pc laptop with FF and Ad Blocker+. Haven't used my Mac yet. So far so good.

Update: Fine on Mac too tonight with no Ad Blocker. :)
