I do not know what has happened to my imac. Prior to transferring my itunes library to an external harddrive it played music cd's and video dvd's perfectly. Since then it is refusing to accept any type of disc. It holds them for about thirty seconds then ejects them. Does anyone know what is happening, and how can I fix it. thanking you
g5 imac 2.1 will not accept cd's, or dvd's

I own the same machine, 2.1Ghz iMac G5 with the iSight camera. My optical drive lasted for 4 years then died the same way. Would not read anything. I bought a new drive from OWC and installed it and it's like new again.
