    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

Hello everyone.

I am currently working on a project that involves several hour of time lapses. Not being able to edit or even render my current footage while importing is a major henderance because of the ammount of footage I have. In order to save time I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to capture the tape without capturing through Final Cut Pro (mabye a program, or widget, or dandy FCP feature).

Thank you for your time.

I haven't tried this, but perhaps you could run the import via a second account.

Perhaps running a different editor could do the trick. I think that would depend on what format you are using.

Personally, I'd leave the issue alone if you only have one machine. You don't want dropped frame or stalls because you are competing with the import process.

Dropping frames would be a distinct possibility, especially as I'm editing on a MBP. Thanks for the advice.
